In the company of others

We usually study each other

And keep painting

Continuously

Unapocalyptic futures

For each and every individual

With just our eyelashes.

The lovers that therefore we are.

For Times Yet to Come

As we were loading love

Into our decrepit bodies

Post that silly argument

We realised it was half past eternity

And we were lovers

For times yet to come.

Ordinary Lies

In Love

Sometimes

Trivial mistakes

Ordinary lies

Are deliberate attempts

To be loved more

So

When she asked

Don't you know how much I love you?

I plainly said

No.

The Literature of Love

Loving you is like

Reading novels by the sea

Hating you is like

Teaching the same in classes.

Together -

Our Love is a page-turner.

Poiesis

I imagine

That in the restful hours of boring

Rainy Srinagar Sundays

You think of me

Miss me terribly

Weep and cry my name out loud in despair

or

This is just another poem

I've been thinking about. 

The Heart that you trespassed

Heart is a strange place -

Rather than stating

Trespassers will be prosecuted

It blindly believes -

Trespassers will prosecute.

And trust me

They always do.

Unfinished Poem

After all these years

I think of you

And repeat to myself

Those words you had once said

And live my life accordingly:

“Even if our story remains half-finished Mubashir

Always try and complete the poem

Always.”
