Sometimes
I want to reduce
Everything to basics:
The earth to amoeba
Life to survival
Windows to trees
Beauty to perception
Grief to poverty
A building to brick
Happiness to pretension
Love to poetry.

And you and me
To the moment when you said
“I am reading three novels simultaneously”

No sentence has made more sense
Since then.
Everything else seems irrelevant.
